Over the last 13 years, the independent fashion label has worked closely with artisan makers in Thailand and India to create small batches of naturally dyed, handmade fabric. Slowly-Made To Last
This special release features two stunning spins on The All-American: Indigo Handloom and Wobbly Waffle. Each version elevates our classic high-top sneaker with the striking texture of Story mfg.’s signature handmade weaves.
Wobbly Waffle is a distinct blend of handcrafted character. Created intentionally by artisans in Thailand, the woven fabric beautifully showcases the raw brown color of the homegrown cotton used to create it. Rich sepia tones are naturally pulled through the fabric, adding organic pops of warmth throughout the weave.
This unique earth-toned cotton is then blended with botanically dyed strands of deep blue yarn. The bold sapphire color comes from real indigo plants. Every step is done by hand (and sometimes feet), with thorough attention to detail. The artisan weavers work from their own homes, meticulously ensuring every inch of fabric is created with care.
The Indigo Handloom is created similarly, with mindful workmanship in every step. The dark blue cloth is fermented in vats, using locally grown indigo plants for its color. Once ready, it is masterfully crafted into a sophisticated hand-woven textile that softens, fades, and ages with character.
