PF. Flyers FAQs

What does P.F. Flyers stand for?

The ‘P.F.’ in P.F. Flyers stands for “Posture Foundation.” It’s the patented insole found in all our shoes. A breakthrough in cushioning and support, the Posture Foundation transformed canvas sneakers from flimsy shoes into sport-ready footwear.

Who owns P.F. Flyers?

P.F. Flyers has been owned by Kassia Davis, CEO and Executive Chairwoman, since July 2021.

What are P.F. Flyers famous for?

P.F. Flyers is famous for being one of the world’s first sneaker brands. Launched in 1937, we became known for adding structure and support to canvas sneakers. Soon after, P.F. Flyers were worn by everyone from professional athletes to US Army soldiers.

In the 1950s, P.F. Flyers made history again by teaming up with Celtics legend Bob Cousy, becoming the first shoe company to partner with an athlete. P.F. Flyers’ sneakers were also featured in The Sandlot (1993), when Benny ‘The Jet’ Rodriguez wore them to run faster and jump higher.

Who wore P.F. Flyers in The Sandlot?

That would be Benny ‘The Jet’ Rodriguez. In the film, he laces up a pair of black Center High Top sneakers to outrun the Beast. That moment made our sneakers a pop culture icon. Shop our 1993 high-top and low-top here.

Are P.F. Flyers good for everyday wear?

Absolutely. With sturdy materials, our signature Posture Foundation insoles, and versatile designs, they’re made for wherever you walk.

Do P.F. Flyers run true to size?

Most customers say yes. But if you’re between sizes, please see the note on each specific product page for fit recommendations. Check our sizing guide for more details.
