The clever design ensures each step is effortless, making our sneakers a comfortable and practical option for everyday wear.

History Of The Posture Foundation

Posture Foundation technology has been keeping our sneakers foot-friendly since 1937.

Originally developed on the back of tire technology from B.F. Goodrich, The Posture Foundation insole revolutionized what canvas footwear could be. It was the first footbed designed specifically for sport shoes, providing athletes with much-needed support and shock absorption that empowered them to set new records.

In the 1930s, inventor Hyman L. Whitman was awarded Patent Number 1.938.127, and the sneaker industry changed forever. P.F. Flyers were the first sneakers to promote features designed to align posture, enhance comfort, and improve performance, making them a staple on and off the courts.

Our classic canvas shoes became an instant classic, and we continued that groundbreaking approach as time moved forward. Generations of wearers enjoyed better alignment, less strain, and greater confidence in every stride.

Today, The Posture Foundation Footbed continues to deliver ingenious stability and support to our shoes, building on the forward-thinking design with modern innovations for enhanced comfort and functionality.

The Next Step Forward

This upgraded version of our Posture Foundation Footbed is a leap toward a new era of comfort.

Building on decades of cutting-edge ideas, it refines our sneakers’ signature support features into one enduring icon. The elevated design blends The Center’s breathable cushioning, The Grounder’s ergonomic molding, and the underfoot support of the rigid wedge into one streamlined insole system. It’s the culmination of our most advanced breakthroughs, guaranteeing each sneaker we create has the same dedication to premium quality, purposeful engineering, and lasting comfort.

Key features of The Posture Foundation Insole include:

  • Ergonomically molded arch support for proper posture
  • Rigid Wedge stability through even weight distribution for reduced foot fatigue and leg strain
  • High-performance cushioning to promote endurance and absorb impact
  • Proprietary dual-density Ortholite ® foam for breathable wear, moisture management, and antimicrobial benefits
  • Durable design with open-cell foam technology that compresses less than 5% over the product lifetime
  • Contoured heel that holds feet in place for proper alignment
  • Made from recycled materials to repurpose leftover rubber and production waste and reduce environmental impact

Each pair of P.F. Flyers sneakers delivers arch support, stability, and cushioning thanks to the thoughtful design of our Posture Foundation Insole. By combining each of these game-changing features, the improved version of our footbed promotes optimal comfort and overall foot health. It’s the next step in our legacy of crafting classic footwear without compromising on the on-foot experience.
