This past weekend in Austin, Texas, the first annual 2025 Sandlot Summit brought the spirit of play to life. Over 125 players from over 75 sandlot teams across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada united for a three-day celebration of conversation, connection, and, of course, community-driven baseball.
It kicked off at The Meantime with a backyard-style welcome, with popped coolers, stacked pizza boxes, and P.F. Flyers swag bags awarded like Little League trophies. Players rolled in from around the world, trading stories and swapping custom swag. It was all smiles and high-fives with that unmistakable sandlot energy buzzing through the crowd. It was pure sandlot magic–the way it’s meant to be.

Saturday kicked off with coffee, camaraderie, and big conversations at Scholz Garten, the oldest operating business in Texas and the oldest beer garden in America! Team captains took the mic to share what fuels their squads, including the origin stories, the values, and the heart behind the hustle. It was a powerful, open dialogue about what makes sandlot baseball special and how to keep the culture inclusive, fun, and growing strong.
Later that afternoon, everyone hit the field at The Long Time for spontaneous pickup games where new friendships were made through double plays and dugout laughs. It was a perfect blend of reflection and action, all stitched together with dust, sweat, and fresh P.F. Flyers on the clay.

Sunday was about honoring the roots while planting new ones. Everyone gathered at The Wishing Well, Austin’s newest sandlot field, for a community tree planting that felt equal parts meaningful and celebratory. After that, it was back to The Long Time for a full slate of games, a lively pop-up vintage market, and a well-stocked bar to keep the energy high. People rocked their new P.F. Flyers, ate their hearts out, and made (new) lifelong friends. A big shoutout to Howard Carey, Jack Sanders, Sandlot Revolution, and every player and person who showed up with a big heart and open glove.
