My name is Dakota, and I am an empath, textile enthusiast, and a karaoke star. My ultimate goal in life is to look back with satisfaction, knowing that I have lived a fulfilling life. To me, this means giving back to my community, lifting others up and helping them succeed in their careers, and most importantly, making people feel valued and loved. This year, I am determined to establish an after school or summer program that focuses on teaching sewing skills to POC youth in southeast Raleigh. Learning to sew at a young age has had a profound impact on my life, shaping my career choices and overall happiness. I hope to pass on this valuable skill and provide a possible career path to the next generation.
