The Flyers Club is a group we created to celebrate people in our community with big ideas and even bigger personal style. We’re here to get to know YOU and share the people, places, and things that inspire you.
This week’s Flyers Club feature is Josh Johnston. Josh is a creative photographer, content creator, and business entrepreneur trying to encourage his community to live life to the absolute fullest. In his early 20’s, Josh decided a typical 9-5 life wasn’t for him, and he picked up and moved to LA to start down his new career path. In his spare time, he enjoys upcycling thrifted items and is a fan of all things Taylor Swift.

Who/what are your biggest style inspirations?
@wisdm! He’s an amazing fashion influencer that has quickly and deservingly gained an audience through social media because of his fashion. The way he styles pieces and puts together outfits is so unique and creative. His individuality really inspires me. I also get very inspired just on a day-to-day basis seeing LA street style!

“I grew up in a community where I felt very restricted and felt like I had to constantly hide who I was. My true self wasn’t accepted, and I was taught to hide it.”
Biggest risk you’ve taken?
I decided that working a typical 9-5 in my early 20’s just wasn’t for me, so I packed up and moved to the California Coast within less than 2 weeks of that decision. I had no idea what I was doing or going to do, but it was the best decision I made and led me to everything I’ve accomplished and the person I’ve become today.
Biggest fashion risk you’ve taken?
I upcycle a lot of thrifted items and turn them into high fashion pieces. I think some people would say they are sometimes questionable, but I think that’s what makes it so cool and unique. What’s the point of fashion if you’re not taking risks?
One thing about you that would surprise your childhood self
Everything haha. I am a completely different person and living a completely different life than I ever would have imagined when I was a kid.

Tell us (and the world) about YOU, who you are, and how you’re changing the game in your niche/world/domain
I am a creative photographer, creator, and business entrepreneur trying to encourage everyone to live life to their absolute fullest. I am trying to inspire people to be their absolute most authentic selves and as cheesy as it sounds, to chase their dreams. I grew up in a community where I felt very restricted and felt like I had to constantly hide who I was. My true self wasn’t accepted, and I was taught to hide it. I was taught that my dreams weren’t ok if they weren’t “the norm.” That’s how I lived most of my life. Once I decided to live life for ME and accepted that I was enough and that I am actually the best part of me, is when I really started living MY life. There is room for everyone, there is room for YOU, and you are more than enough.
